Ep 5: Building a Fitness Studio Community with Amy Glosser

In this episode, I’m talking with Amy Glosser, Founder and CEO of BYKlyn Studios, an indoor cycling studio in Brooklyn, NY.

I met Amy earlier this year at a Boutique Fitness Solutions event in Austin. I didn’t have to talk to her very long to realize that she’s built something special at BYKlyn —and that she takes community building very seriously and cultivates it very intentionally.

We all know a good community when we see it, but only some people know how to make it happen. The latest Mindbody survey reports that 43% of consumers say a community is essential to wellness experiences, but building a community is often easier said than done. So that’s exactly what Amy and I are discussing about building a fitness community!

A little bit about Amy:

Amy Glosser is an experienced founder with a demonstrated history of working in the health, wellness and fitness industry. Skilled in Management, Marketing Strategy, Leadership, Community Outreach, and Marketing, Amy is a strong business development professional who graduated from The Wharton School.

Amy is also the Founder and CEO of BYKlyn Studios. Founded in 2014, they’re an independent boutique fitness studio — a one-stop shop where community and inclusivity meet.

Here’s what we discussed in this episode:

  • How Amy ended up owning a boutique fitness studio in NYC for as long as she has.

  • Some of the key things Amy has done at BYKlyn to create a supportive, committed community intentionally.

  • How Amy’s business fared during the pandemic and how her community helped her pivot.

  • How Amy feels about brand ambassadors or advisory boards.

    • How she went about cultivating those relationships and encouraging a feeling of belonging.

  • One thing Amy would like new studio owners to know about is how to build a fitness community if they want to cultivate a great community at their studio.
